Make your voice heard for the Scheldt.

Floods, dry summers, water that isn't clean yet: the river we share needs new ideas. Want a say in what happens next? Then this is for you.

  • 16 to 26 years old
  • France, Belgium or the Netherlands
  • No fee
  • Travel, bed and meals arranged

  • No experience needed

Five reasons to join

Your ideas matter

Turn your ideas on water, nature and the future into recommendations. Then take them to the people who manage the river.

One river, many voices

Meet people from three countries and all kinds of backgrounds. Same river, different ways of living with it.

Build real skills

Do your own research, debate in English and present your group's ideas. No tests, no grades: you learn by doing.

Be part of the Scheldt's comeback

Around 1990, only 14 harbour seals were counted in the whole Dutch delta. In June 2025, almost 600 were counted in the Western Scheldt alone. There's still work to do.

Have a good time

Kayaks, campfires and dinners together. Come for the river, stay for the friends.

Pack your bag. We take care of the rest.

No fee. For every brainstorm weekend, we arrange your travel, a place to sleep and your meals.

Who can join? You can.

Anyone aged 16 to 26 who lives in France, Belgium or the Netherlands. Any subject, any degree, or none yet. No experience needed.

Like teamwork? Want to practise your English? You'll fit right in.

I was 17 when I signed up for a water debate in the Senate. Not because of the topic, but because a girl I liked was going too. Before I knew it, I was in the Belgian delegation to the World Water Forum in Istanbul. I got hooked on water, and in 2012 I was elected chair of the World Youth Parliament for Water. That one debate, that one chance I got through GoodPlanet, completely changed my life.

How it works

You join for about a year and a half and meet online and by the river, several times a year.

  1. Step 1

    Start online

Meet your group from home and learn about the Scheldt from experts and from each other.

  2. Step 2

    Brainstorm weekends

Our exchanges: two or three days by the river. Walk, cycle, meet the people who work on it and brainstorm together.

  3. Step 3

    Dig into your theme

Pick one, like water quality or floods, and research it. GoodPlanet and HZ University of Applied Sciences support you.

  4. Step 4

    Speak up

Write recommendations together and present them to water authorities and the International Scheldt Commission.
